Service Description
This is a great class for beginners who want to learn lathe basics. Use roughing gouges, spindle gouges, and carbide tools to shape the wood. Learn to sand and add a wax or oil finish. Once you have the techniques down in this intro class, you'll have the skills to make spinning tops, table legs, magic wands, and more! In this session, we'll use our new skills to make spinning tops. Get creative with different shapes! Add color! Feeling ambitious? Try adding a captive ring, or using a chatter tool for texture. All tools, materials, and safety equipment are provided. Please wear close-toed shoes. A bandana is recommended. It's also recommended to wear a shirt with a neckline that goes all the way up to your neck, as wood chips will be flying. Class is for ages 8 and up. If the participant is under 16, a guardian is required to stay in the classroom. Pay what you can between $40-$90. Suggest fee is $90. I take payment in-person through Venmo, Paypal, Cashapp, Zelle, cash, or check. Extra tips are appreciated but not necessary.
