Beginning Classes
Delve into the world of woodturning with a beginning-level class. We'll go over the parts of the lathe and all of the basic tools. This level is great for people who are brand new to woodturning and current turners who want a refresher or want to learn a new skill on the lathe. The basis of each project will be simple, however you are welcome to add your own spin to each project.

Learn all about fingernail gouges, from wide to narrow widths. Start by practicing beads and coves, the foundation of woodturning. Then, learn to drill a secret compartment into the wood. Get immediate satisfaction when it comes off the lathe and you have a magic wand! String is included. You can make the shape as simple or detailed as you would like. 3hrs $50
Salt and Pepper Mills
Students will start with a solid 3x3” wood blank. They will learn to rough it into a cylinder, cut it to specific measurements, and drill out the inner chamber. Next, each student will shape it into a mill, using their creativity to make a unique shape. Then, they will sand and put a coat of finish on it. All of these steps are done on the lathe! Finally, they will install the grinding mechanism, and take home a functioning salt or pepper mill! 5 hrs / $200

Lidded Box
Choose from a variety of woods to make a friction-lidded box that opens with a "Pop!". Use your creativity to make a unique shape. Sand and add a protective finish, then take home a special, hand-made box to keep or give as a gift. 3.5 hrs / $90
Spinning Tops

Pens
Learn how to make a wooden pen. Choose from a variety of domestic woods that you will cut, drill, glue, and turn, all on the lathe! Each student can make their own unique pen shape, then sand and finish the wood. At the end, you will choose from gold, silver, and copper hardware, and go home with a functioning ballpoint twist pen and simple instructions on how to change the ink. Upgrades to more exotic woods and turquoise inlay add-ons are available during the class. 3 hrs $50
